Plano de adaptação às Alterações Climáticas
Focus: Adaptation
Sector(s): Adaptation / Resilience / Disaster risk reduction, Biodiversity / Ecosystems
Located in northeast Portugal, Alfândega da Fé records high temperatures and low rainfall through the summer months. As a large part of the municipal area consists of forests and agricultural land, it is particularly vulnerable to forest fires. The fires reduce the quality of life of the city’s population, affect food production and damage infrastructure. In response, the municipality has begun to implement a series of adaptation measures. As well as reducing the impact of forest fires, the measures will provide more green space and contribute to the renewal of the city.
