Guangzhou International Award for Urban Innovation

As the third largest city in China and a major export hub, Guangzhou is taking responsibility for lowering emissions and adapting to climate change. Guangzhou has therefore partnered with UCLG and Metropolis to develop a global knowledge platform dedicated to innovative approaches to sustainable urban development and climate action at subnational levels. The project includes: a biennial global award to recognize outstanding initiatives in sustainable urban development; an online searchable database; the development of policy briefs and case studies; conferences, seminars and master courses; and structured study tours and city-to-city cooperation at the international level.
