One of Pingtung County‘s ambitious goals to tackle climate change and foster its energy transition is to provide large access to green-powered electricity. The County, which applied to TAP in 2018, managed to set solar photovoltaic zones in subsidence areas employing a zero budgeting model.

Doumé is taking measures to tackle climate change by increasing sustainable access to water and electricity. Launched in 2019, the “Access to Sustainable Public Services” project obtained support from the European Union funded Covenant of Mayors Sub Saharan Africa (CoM-SSA) III to help the local government developing the necessary pre- feasibility studies.

Mérida thrives for a model of urban integration that generates awareness and sustainable habits in order to build a more inclusive and resilient city. Launched in 2017, Circuito Sur is a sustainable mobility project aiming to connect the Southern areas with the city center, representing the first step towards this urban model.

To improve its solar power capacity, the city of Palmas in Brazil launched its Solar Program in 2015. The program offers tax incentives for households and businesses to install photovoltaic panels and become small-scale energy producers. Through this, the city expects to maximize the share of renewables in the energy mix and become a national leader in installed solar capacity.

To address droughts and water scarcity, Brazil’s capital Brasília is working under the umbrella of the “Serrinha do Paranoá Waters Project”, a collaborative governance networks among public institutions, civil society organizations, and community members to implement initiatives such as participatory mapping of water features, stream restoration, and establishment of conservation areas.
