The Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) manages the Green Municipal Fund (GMF) – the only program of its kinds in Canada that provides funding and knowledge services to help municipalities across Canada improve the quality of air, water, and soil, and to mitigate the impacts of climate change. Endowed with $500 million from the Canadian Government, the GMF supports the best examples of leadership and innovation in local sustainability. These initiatives have significant environmental and social benefits allied to a strong business case. The GMF funds capital projects, plans, feasibility studies and pilot projects in five sectors: energy, water, waste, transportation and brownfields.
