The TAP is on the move at the November 2016 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Marrakech, Morocco. As nations come together to shape the implementation architecture for the Paris Agreement, targeted discussions around local and subnational governments finance are critical. ICLEI has brought this issue to the fore, featuring the TAP in a number of finance-related events, alongside our partners R20, the Cities Climate Finance Leadership Alliance (CCFLA), FMDV and others.
In 2015, as a program debut event, the TAP hosted the Cities & Regions Pavilion – TAP2015, which offered an open forum for TAP participants to showcase their climate actions to over 2,000 participants.
The Cities & Regions Pavilion was the central point for cities and regions at COP21, placing local climate action at the center of action and discussion among mayors, governors, municipal leaders, civil society leaders, businesses and financiers.
The Pavilion was co-hosted by the City of Paris and the City of Bristol and jointly organized by ICLEI, R20, UCLG, C40, Eurocities, AIMF and other global network of cities and partners.
At the 2016 Resilient Cities Congress in Bonn, Germany, current and interested TAP participants came together at the dedicated TAP exhibition where all 120+ TAP projects were on display.
The annual Resilient Cities Congress is the premier platform for tracking progress on local and subnational action towards the resilience targets of SDG 11, the dedicated urban Sustainable Development Goal. It was an opportunity for resilience-focused TAP projects to demonstrate their approach and potential to advance global process towards resilience.
